With the evolution of the COVID-19 pandemic and the emergence of variants, it is of importance to monitor the outbreak on the ground. Only genome sequencing can accurately type variants, but this method is expensive, timeconsuming and unsuitable for routine use. The detection of major mutations of concern with a RT-qPCR although more limited is a rapid, robust and affordable alternative.
