Membrane transport refers to the movement of particles (solute) across or through a membranous barrier. Membrane function and transport is an essential factor for cellular uptake of a drug. As cells go through a vast amount of membrane mediated exchange as a necessary trait to maintain its function. The transportation of the drug into the cell along the incorporation of biological molecules does not disturb the normal function of the cell.
